This evening, I have come across this news article which highlighted the greediness of the human beings and different which ways that we extend ourselves to breakthrough the loop holes of the rules, which were meant to be broken.

Yet another Harshad Mehta?

Some years back, Harshad Mehta was famous in Indian house hold names all for wrong reasons. Especially if you are upper middle-class and with the I-do-trading-too person, you would have certainly known this person and probably lost some money with him too.

This morning, I read an article which might completely overshadow Harsha Mehta episode. This was about an Indian couple held for stock market scam to the tune of ..hold your breathe..1,100 Crore Rupees. And the Modus Operandi was quite an interesting ... but their promise and premise had SCAM written all over it with 20% return on capital per month..And definitely the below face had that written in Bold letters too. Let us see in detail..

3 Reasons why Obama should NOT have been elected again..

By the time I am typing this blog post, the US election results are well announced and "Mr. President" title appears to stay again with Mr.Barack Obama. There was huge backlash on him losing the people's favourite @ Popularity votes but winning through the age old, red tapist electoral college votes. Likes of publicity man, Mr.Donald J Trump, have openly called out for a Revolution.

May be he is having a point and I guess some of these reasons why Obama should NOT have been re-elected again

Reason#3 goes to...

My Last days with blackberry playbook os2

Couple of months back we  were in a dire need of a tablet which could the focus away from the attention grabbing television programmes for my  ever growing daughter. However it resulted the same way the chennai corporation lays their Overhead bridges to reduce the traffic congestion.

Instead of reduce the traffic congestion, I always find them spread the congestion to both the ends of the Overhead bridges,so instead of worrying about the traffic at one place, people will starting to worry about two places now.

Photo Reading - What is it?

With the mounting pressure on the ongoing studies with an inversely proportional time availability concerns, I was looking for a tooth or toothless fairy to tender its helping hand.  In the recent residential campus week, I did update my facebook status like given below: "how to write 3000 words essay that includes concepts from 2 text book bundles and 100+ reference books on a single case study?? Currently looking for that guy who who stuffed the genie inside the lamp ...@Day-3 of #MudhiyorKalvi #LifeIsStillGood"

In case you think, I was kidding..no I was NOT, as it was true search for such capabilities. And the good news is, I seemed to have found my solution in Photo Reading.

With my continued practice of the same for the latest quest to learn the PhotoReading, I completed a recent book of the week namely write it down, make it happen by Henriette Anne Klauser (remembered author name thanks to Photo Reading technique) in surprising 1 hour and 15 minutes approximately.

Before you go further on "this is it"  moment based on my stats, read my recent facebook status : "It is irony that with the help of PhotoReading technique I learnt over the weekend, I finished this 28 page NASA documentation on "why PhotoReading cannot work" in 6 minutes with appendix questions answered over :) Try out and let me know h

Mobile blogging finally

So far the big bottleneck turned out to be the lack of time in front of the proper typing medium and software, to attribute my non publishing blog posts. Thanks to the phone swapping idea proposed by my better err...best half, I traded my favorite blackberry with an iPhone.

I am regretting heavily now on how come I missed possessing an apple product so far, as I see an amazing transformation.

I guess I will have to elaborate it in my next post as it is getting late here with my exciting toy gadget right now.

Look out for more iPhone praising and blackberry bashing in the upcoming post.

Talk to you tomorrow!!

Guar Gum - India's new gold mine with Oil and Gas Industries

In my casual browsing through the newyork based reuters surprised with the following statement: "But it just so happens that when the hard little bean that a former farmer from Northern India, Rajasthan in Particular, grows is ground up, it becomes an essential ingredient for mining oil and natural gas"

Halfway around the world, earnings are down for an oil services giant, Halliburton, because prices have risen for guar, the bean that the Indian farmers raise.

Halliburton’s loss was, in a rather significant way, Indian Farmer's gain — a rare victory for the littlest of the little guys in global trade. The increase in guar prices is helping to transform this part of the state of Rajasthan in northwestern India."

Wondering the details of the Fracking in US and Indian link, wait till tomorrow for the cover story post!! :)

Ideal option for downloading videos from Youtube..freely

Recently I was looking for an option to download one of my recent favorite video song , "Nenjodu Cherthu" from private album - "Yuuvh". I encountered several products but each one of them were racing enough to mislead me to download their worthless buggy software. Out of it, I found YTD Video downloader to be a good one.

I completely agree with their statement on : For online video enthusiasts looking to download non-copyrighted or personally owned videos, YouTube Downloader appears to be a near-perfect tool. :)

You can download the YTD (You Tube Downloader) from CNET for free. Though it is a two step process but worth having it especially to download an watch most of the videos that are increasing available in youtube.

On the same topic, today I found that Enolsoft Co., Ltd. today is pleased to update their Free YouTube Downloader HD for Mac software to free download YouTube 1080p HD videos on Mac OS X. This update enables YouTube 1080p HD video streaming offline more smoothly.

Finally, a word of caution: beware of piracy in videos that you are downloading :)

cruel cure for Bed wetting - Madness redefined-part 2?

I have already written this article about the Pune Mane - Madness Redefined. However, This morning I have come across a shocker news which definitely pulled me into this writing of the post and can definitely call "Madness redefined - Part 2".

Bed wetting of the 5 year old appeared to be root cause of the issue that hit the head lines. If you are wondering why a very normal happening of the bed wetting by a 5 year old could make it to a national news, here is the actual news that may shock you as well.

Shanthi Niketan is very famous due to its association with Robindranath Tagore but last few days were getting maximum hits due to this infamous incident.

In its hostel, apparently a wily warden appeared to have punished the 5 year old kit for wetting her bed ...by...

Single Sex education Vs. CoEd, which is good?

In my attempt to master the art of parenting..err... well, I agree, in order to be able to do a better job of my "mission: best father" goal, I have started preparing myself better by reading various articles to learn father and daughter psychologies. Here I have attempted to capture my thoughts on the same through this "Parent"anandha series. Suggestions to improve this series is welcome.
With this brief introduction, here is the Parentananda series : Episode-1: Single Sex education Vs. CoEd, which is good?

As the title of the post suggests, I have come across an article which sweetly surprised me with the a truth. See if you already know this : oh.. before I get to that, for the uninitiated like on what is single-sex education, it is also popularly known as Single-Gender Education in a more polished term.

Here is the surprise results from the wikipedia article I read:

English: Apple iPad Event (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

While the whole gadget world go gaga about the new Google Nexus and the latest buzz on the iPad Mini to take on the world, some gurus might be screaming that these would be the "tablets to end all tablets" prophecies, I got the whole new insight on the age old debate : Quality Vs. Quantity.

Does that really differentiate between the 550$+ iPads and 55$ McPads, is the question to ask.

Here is the assembly line videos on each of these world which might explain the details of the differences, probably Visually.

Satyamev Jayate in trouble again - this time with Donations?

As part of  my earlier article on Actor Aamir khan's do gooder television show on organic forming, I did mention that the TRP ratings of this sudden splurge of do-goody show getting dropped phenomenally. On digging up the details, I found the reason..err.. reasons.

One quick reason to start with is the recent trouble with the donations part of the program and the company getting into bad books is none other than...

Reliance Foundations run by Mrs.Nita Ambani with the big publicity on plans to change the world, being economic with the truth (in terms of what it would match). Let me try to explain in my own usual layman terms, so that even I can reassure my understanding :)

Here is the donation figures published at MoneyLife magazine. Thanks to/Courtesy: Moneylife magazine

Reliance Foundation had offered to match the donations received from others to provide 13 NGOs on the list of Satyamev Jayate(SMJ), of which seven received the funds so far: Unique Home for Girls, Snehalaya, Amarjyoti School, Family of Disabled, Himmat, Childline and Azad Foundation.

While the SMJ's website claimed to have received donations upto 1.7 crores for these 7 NGo's, the donation match of Reliance Foundations were about 85.25 Lakhs. that is about half of the total collected donations instead of full match. What is the real problem here?

As on 25th June (seven weeks after the show went on air), the Hanmer PR person wrote to MoneyLife spokesperson to say SMJ has received Rs1.9 crore through Axis Bank and another Rs25 to Rs30 lakh through text messages (so much for precision and disclosures), which means “Rs3 crore plus” of donations after adding “Rs85 lakh donated by Reliance”.

With this confirmation, She writes, “Reliance only doubles the amount collected in the first week (after telecast date). From a legal perspective, there needs to be a cut off date for Reliance to double the amount”. Clear so far? Wondering what is wrong still?

With Aamir Khan continues to tell in each single episodes that Reliance Foundation will match the donations received, why is its contribution less than half the total received, is the debate here. As it appears, Reliance Foundation made an excellent deal out of this proposition, with obtaining big publicity for them on prime TV shows, they merely ended up paying 85.25 Lakhs for over 6 weeks of advertisements, when the other advertisers have been paying Rs8-Rs 10 lakh for a 10 second spot! Bharti Airtel, the presenting sponsor, is understood to have paid Rs17-Rs20 crore while associate sponsors (Skoda, Coca Cola, Axis Bank, etc.) have paid Rs6-Rs7 crore each for a far less visibility than Reliance, in MoneyLife Magazine terms.

The question is why the "Terms & Conditions" of Reliance Foundation clearly did NOT mention that it would match ONLY the donations of the first week?

Now back on why Satyamve Jayate's TRP ratings are falling down:

  • First reason stating that 90 minutes of this do-goody programme surveyed to be found too much to spend by the people on a Sunday Morning.
  • Second being no further follow up or action being taken by the SMJ team apart from bring to the people through media. Only the two out of 8 shows had a follow up action by the SMJ team as it appears.

Neverthless, I agree with the first such TV show targeting to make some differences in the society through creation of awareness be lauded probably with both the hands and probably with creating another 30 lakhs worth of text messaging!!

Law of Attraction is a myth?

Aamir Khan and Organic Farming - a retrogressive solution?

I saw the blogs and articles go gung-ho about the recent episode of very famous, high TRP generating television show by Actor Aamir Khan - "Satyamev Jayate", on organic farming. In the below starting episode, the impact of the usage of the pesticides on the farming and the product outcomes of the same on the people who consumes clearly depicts and achieved the relevant motive behind this episode. i.e., high TRP

However, the solution offered by this show as usage of the organic farming is really a progressive OR retrogressive is the question which this blog post tries to explore about...

iStream.com to bring the Euro 2012 cup live matches to your home

In India, a sudden climate change NOT only observed on the environmental seasons but also with the sports. With the IPL hype and hoopla exhausted, a new found soccer/foot ball craze apparantly started ticking the trend boards.

I thought with this post, I could help those tech savvy but those who lack the set top box setup at their home. Yes, as the subject of this mail shows, one in India could still watch those Euro 2012 live match broadcasts through iStream.com thanks to their recent tie up with Neo Sports.

As you may already know, Neo Sports, the all sports channel, has the exclusive television broadcast rights across the Indian subcontinent for the Euro cup 2012 broadcast.

"We believe that football has a strong pull among the internet audiences in the country and this is part of our overall strategy to build a strong sports vertical for istream.com. We plan to bring in more such exclusive partnerships in the online video space," said iStream founder and CEO Radhakrishnan Ramachandran.

So this little bigger news is for the ones who are NOT having set top box connection to watch Neo Sports. However, if you do NOT have electricity with you, well...this might NOT even work unless you are absolutely soccer freak to consume your mobile data plans... Enjoy Euro 2012!!

Bilingual education - what UP board results show us?

There is always been a case of dilemma for the parents whether to keep their children continue their studies in their mother tongue or should there be moved to English medium to said to have "better prospects".

However, listen this news first:
In the UP Board exam, for about 0.31 million (3.1 lakh) students could NOT clear their first language, Hindi, Examination in the matriculation exam this year. This clearance of the language paper is made compulsory for all the students and these 0.31 million students failed in their exams. UP is always considered to be an Indian state with maximum people use Hindi as official first language of education, in India. but what does it show?

Emu Farming - Ponzi Scheme redefined - Part 2

Yesterday's post on the Emu Farming Part 1 was more on the original intend of the Emu farming franchise and how it could have turn into real business.

However, what is found to be happening is quiet contradictory to it. Maharashtra State Government ordered CID probe as they suspect about 200 Crore (40 million dollars) as you can see in this link along with the ban on the state and Tamilnadu government has already instructed forest husbandary department to conduct enquiry on the Emu farming after being reported suspicious circular trading in Erode.

What is circular trading?

Off late, you might have been bombarded with internet mail forwards, TV, Radio advertisements where your favourite or non-favourite actor/actress endorsing how Emu Farming has helped "millions" out of their poverty or financial goals.

Overnight Obama

Though the title may sound funny enough, I came across an article this morning which I found quite interesting and is inline with the title of this post. What would you do if you find tomorrow morning that your bank account has been credited about 9.8 billion dollars OR about 49,000 crores. Yes, you read it is correctly, it is FORTY NINE THOUSAND CRORES ONLY.

I know some of you might get giddiness/dizziness/vertigo or what ever in that reeling sensation on seeing such a 12 digit figure. But if you are Mr.Honesty - "Parijath Saha" from Calcutta, you would have directly called up his bank, SBI, to report such a typo error of the bank. Sounds too much, to believe it? Here is the real incident and how it got unfolded with this gentle man - Parijath Saha:

Why Google Honored Robert Lang?

Recently Google posted the below doodle which was created by Robert Lang, who was an American Scientist and origamist. And as you may notice, the doodle was built around the design of Origamy.

I initially thought Origamy was one another child's play game and wondered why Google to give such an importance but got some interesting things to note that Robert Lang wrote 13 books on Origamy and its scientific applications and about the grandfather of Origamy, Akira Yoshizawa. I am sure you might find this article entertaining as well., hence presenting as such...

Nexavar deal : Side effects? Cancer treatment burden reduced. Thanks Indian Government!!

This morning, I have seen a good news, atleast for those families caught in the trap of cancer treatments. As subject says, one of the prominant effective cancer-treatment drug namely NEXAVAR, will be sold in the reduced price tag for its 120 tablet pack. The reduction amount is NOT in hundreds but in Lakhs of rupees, thanks to Indian Governments' efforts and legal actions.

To give you a figure of profit for those cancer affected families, this drug so far used to cost about 2.84 Lakhs(0.2 million rupees), but now it is going to cost about 2, 884 Rupees. Yes, you read it correct: From about 3 Lakhs to about 3 thousand rupees. Good news, indeed?? Here is how the story explodes

Indian Schooling Systems - Perception Vs. Reality

This post, I am writing, when the UPSC results are out in India and incidentally too many references of the schools I have been experiencing today. One with the movie I am currently watching namely Dhoni which talks about the Indian Schooling system where as the other one in family talks that went on when the future planning was on the schooling for my daughter.

When I looked over the net on which of the one, Private OR Public schools, I surprisingly got more inputs which kind of shattered my perception and am sure it would do the same thing to yours as well....

Need to get rid of a habit?? Read this...

In my casual reading today, I came across an interesting article where a person was talking about how he quit the smoking just by mere understanding of how habits are created and how they work.

His statement goes like this: "when I wanted to quit smoking I understood that the act of smoking wasn't related to any thoughts, people around me or actions preceding the smoking. It's an addiction and the primary motivation is the reward of dopamine in the brain. By understanding ....

Democracy remote controlled?

Obviously I have lifted the title from the recent hindi movie tagline, called "Rann" which was supposed to be exposing the politician-businessman-media nexus. The tagline goes as "When a voice of conscience cannot be heard & when democracy is remote controlled.. will we ever know the truth?". I thought it would be very apt to today's blog point!!

How it is relevant to today's post?

"Flyte" to Indian iTunes..Destination arrived!!

Last time I heard about iTunes was with my Senior IT Manager who was complaining on why he does NOT want to cater to iPhone requests as each of the download has to go through iTunes. I did NOT understand the technicality then and I guess even now. However, I understood how much bigger an achievement that getting their chart busters into iTunes top list for the south indian cine world, thanks to Kolaveri Song Statistics.

How is it relevant to this blog:
One of the Indian e-commerce pioneer and still a player, FlipKart, announced their acquistion of LetsBuy.com with their eye out on the music download service called Flyte.

The service has all kinds of artists and albums ranging from Western to Carnatic and it is only going to grow with new music being added in.Flyte is located within Flipkart but has its own cart called ‘Digital Cart’.

You can easily preview all the songs and download them in an MP3 format at various bitrates like 64kbps, 128kbps and 320kbps provided that the available song has that bitrate on the store.

Currently, songs are priced on an average of Rs.6 per song.

An album on an average will cost you Rs.150 to Rs.200. The songs are very decently prized, even the international ones.

Now does that sound similar to what iTunes offer?

Pune Mane - Madness redefined
