Lady Gaga pushed Anna Hazare to second on Indian Independence day...

Funny as it might sound today's title!! If you have any of the following questions that springs in your mind, please go ahead and read it:

1) what Lady Gaga has to do with Independence day.
2) Anna Hazare is "pushed to second"?? what the...??

I am sure after reading the entire post you will get goose-pimples about the patriotism being observed by the Indian online reading communities.

Who is Anna Hazare: If you ask who is "Kisan Baburao Hazare", nobody would answer even in his family as he is popularly known as "Anna Hazare".  One of the highest Indian Civilian award namely "Padma Bhushan" winner at a time when you CANNOT buy these awards with money in India. Though there are scores of wiki pages which can give you the details of Anna Hazare for each minute of his life till this age, for a layman's perspective (like me!!), Anna Hazare is the house hold name in the recent past in every indian family where his persistent but ahimsa(??) efforts against the weaker central government to bring the "stronger lokpal bill"(stringent anti-corruption law). To least say his growing popularity, I guess even elder brothers of the family in India have felt prouder when some one called them "Anna" in their colloquial slang.  In a short note, Anna hazare is the modern day Freedom fighter, fighting to get the freedom from the corrupts.

Who is Lady Gaga: "Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta" is her short name before she became "lady gaga" as per wiki pages. For a layman (like me once again!!), she is a pop-singer from America. As per the norms of famous American pop-singer, she is holding 2 grammy awards but SURPRISINGLY she is holding two Guinness records for topping up UK charts and MOST SEARCHED FOR FEMALE in the internet. source (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lady_Gaga)

Well, coming back to the title of this blog, it revolves around the last point - "MOST SEARCH FOR". On the eve of Independence day this year 2011, the time when each one of Indian national is getting influenced with the nationwide movement of "Anna Hazare" err.."Anti-Corruption movement", one would obviously think the search engine results would mostly belong to "Anna Hazare" related pages.

Well, it was but the google trends on that day depicted the following snapshot:

As per google trend lines, it was clearly the Lady gaga searches emerged winner with being "Anna Hazare" searches finding second place or probably distant second place. Why the search on Lady Gaga? She was announcing a tour in India in the month of October'2011 and that was cited the reason.

I sometime back written this blog post: How to get your priorities right on setting the priorities straight. This search trend may be an indication of the priorities of the latest generation of the online community, sadly!!

Now, I am NOT surprised why Lady Gaga listed as one of the Top-100 most influenced person in the world by Times and Forbes (Source: http://www.forbes.com/profile/lady-gaga)

Jai Hind!!
