iStream.com to bring the Euro 2012 cup live matches to your home

In India, a sudden climate change NOT only observed on the environmental seasons but also with the sports. With the IPL hype and hoopla exhausted, a new found soccer/foot ball craze apparantly started ticking the trend boards.

I thought with this post, I could help those tech savvy but those who lack the set top box setup at their home. Yes, as the subject of this mail shows, one in India could still watch those Euro 2012 live match broadcasts through iStream.com thanks to their recent tie up with Neo Sports.

As you may already know, Neo Sports, the all sports channel, has the exclusive television broadcast rights across the Indian subcontinent for the Euro cup 2012 broadcast.

"We believe that football has a strong pull among the internet audiences in the country and this is part of our overall strategy to build a strong sports vertical for istream.com. We plan to bring in more such exclusive partnerships in the online video space," said iStream founder and CEO Radhakrishnan Ramachandran.

So this little bigger news is for the ones who are NOT having set top box connection to watch Neo Sports. However, if you do NOT have electricity with you, well...this might NOT even work unless you are absolutely soccer freak to consume your mobile data plans... Enjoy Euro 2012!!

Bilingual education - what UP board results show us?

There is always been a case of dilemma for the parents whether to keep their children continue their studies in their mother tongue or should there be moved to English medium to said to have "better prospects".

However, listen this news first:
In the UP Board exam, for about 0.31 million (3.1 lakh) students could NOT clear their first language, Hindi, Examination in the matriculation exam this year. This clearance of the language paper is made compulsory for all the students and these 0.31 million students failed in their exams. UP is always considered to be an Indian state with maximum people use Hindi as official first language of education, in India. but what does it show?

Emu Farming - Ponzi Scheme redefined - Part 2

Yesterday's post on the Emu Farming Part 1 was more on the original intend of the Emu farming franchise and how it could have turn into real business.

However, what is found to be happening is quiet contradictory to it. Maharashtra State Government ordered CID probe as they suspect about 200 Crore (40 million dollars) as you can see in this link along with the ban on the state and Tamilnadu government has already instructed forest husbandary department to conduct enquiry on the Emu farming after being reported suspicious circular trading in Erode.

What is circular trading?

Overnight Obama

Though the title may sound funny enough, I came across an article this morning which I found quite interesting and is inline with the title of this post. What would you do if you find tomorrow morning that your bank account has been credited about 9.8 billion dollars OR about 49,000 crores. Yes, you read it is correctly, it is FORTY NINE THOUSAND CRORES ONLY.

I know some of you might get giddiness/dizziness/vertigo or what ever in that reeling sensation on seeing such a 12 digit figure. But if you are Mr.Honesty - "Parijath Saha" from Calcutta, you would have directly called up his bank, SBI, to report such a typo error of the bank. Sounds too much, to believe it? Here is the real incident and how it got unfolded with this gentle man - Parijath Saha:

Education Vs. Employability

Today I stumbled upon a recent survey conducted by Aspiring Minds on its statewise employability report. This ironically coinciding with the DOECC and RRB results that got published over last few days, created the curious gap between Education and Employability.

Why Google Honored Robert Lang?

Recently Google posted the below doodle which was created by Robert Lang, who was an American Scientist and origamist. And as you may notice, the doodle was built around the design of Origamy.

I initially thought Origamy was one another child's play game and wondered why Google to give such an importance but got some interesting things to note that Robert Lang wrote 13 books on Origamy and its scientific applications and about the grandfather of Origamy, Akira Yoshizawa. I am sure you might find this article entertaining as well., hence presenting as such...

Nexavar deal : Side effects? Cancer treatment burden reduced. Thanks Indian Government!!

This morning, I have seen a good news, atleast for those families caught in the trap of cancer treatments. As subject says, one of the prominant effective cancer-treatment drug namely NEXAVAR, will be sold in the reduced price tag for its 120 tablet pack. The reduction amount is NOT in hundreds but in Lakhs of rupees, thanks to Indian Governments' efforts and legal actions.

To give you a figure of profit for those cancer affected families, this drug so far used to cost about 2.84 Lakhs(0.2 million rupees), but now it is going to cost about 2, 884 Rupees. Yes, you read it correct: From about 3 Lakhs to about 3 thousand rupees. Good news, indeed?? Here is how the story explodes

Indian Schooling Systems - Perception Vs. Reality

This post, I am writing, when the UPSC results are out in India and incidentally too many references of the schools I have been experiencing today. One with the movie I am currently watching namely Dhoni which talks about the Indian Schooling system where as the other one in family talks that went on when the future planning was on the schooling for my daughter.

When I looked over the net on which of the one, Private OR Public schools, I surprisingly got more inputs which kind of shattered my perception and am sure it would do the same thing to yours as well....

Need to get rid of a habit?? Read this...

In my casual reading today, I came across an interesting article where a person was talking about how he quit the smoking just by mere understanding of how habits are created and how they work.

His statement goes like this: "when I wanted to quit smoking I understood that the act of smoking wasn't related to any thoughts, people around me or actions preceding the smoking. It's an addiction and the primary motivation is the reward of dopamine in the brain. By understanding ....

Democracy remote controlled?

Obviously I have lifted the title from the recent hindi movie tagline, called "Rann" which was supposed to be exposing the politician-businessman-media nexus. The tagline goes as "When a voice of conscience cannot be heard & when democracy is remote controlled.. will we ever know the truth?". I thought it would be very apt to today's blog point!!

How it is relevant to today's post?

"Flyte" to Indian iTunes..Destination arrived!!

Last time I heard about iTunes was with my Senior IT Manager who was complaining on why he does NOT want to cater to iPhone requests as each of the download has to go through iTunes. I did NOT understand the technicality then and I guess even now. However, I understood how much bigger an achievement that getting their chart busters into iTunes top list for the south indian cine world, thanks to Kolaveri Song Statistics.

How is it relevant to this blog:
One of the Indian e-commerce pioneer and still a player, FlipKart, announced their acquistion of LetsBuy.com with their eye out on the music download service called Flyte.

The service has all kinds of artists and albums ranging from Western to Carnatic and it is only going to grow with new music being added in.Flyte is located within Flipkart but has its own cart called ‘Digital Cart’.

You can easily preview all the songs and download them in an MP3 format at various bitrates like 64kbps, 128kbps and 320kbps provided that the available song has that bitrate on the store.

Currently, songs are priced on an average of Rs.6 per song.

An album on an average will cost you Rs.150 to Rs.200. The songs are very decently prized, even the international ones.

Now does that sound similar to what iTunes offer?
