cruel cure for Bed wetting - Madness redefined-part 2?

I have already written this article about the Pune Mane - Madness Redefined. However, This morning I have come across a shocker news which definitely pulled me into this writing of the post and can definitely call "Madness redefined - Part 2".

Bed wetting of the 5 year old appeared to be root cause of the issue that hit the head lines. If you are wondering why a very normal happening of the bed wetting by a 5 year old could make it to a national news, here is the actual news that may shock you as well.

Shanthi Niketan is very famous due to its association with Robindranath Tagore but last few days were getting maximum hits due to this infamous incident.

In its hostel, apparently a wily warden appeared to have punished the 5 year old kit for wetting her bed ...by...

forcing her to drink her urine...what a shame??
I guess this is due to a sheer misunderstanding or no understanding on why bed wetting is an issue only for selected kids and how to cure this disease.

For the uninitiated like me, Bed wetting is the act of urinating in the bed especially pretty known amongst the children and also known as enuresis.

"The incidence of bed-wetting up to age 6 is about 20 percent of children," says Steve Hodges, MD. This bed wetting act is pretty common and usually clears up when the child is 3 years old, and is much more common in boy, as the research article says.

Sometimes it not only affects the small kids but also affects the elderly to frequently get up in the night and urinate.

What are the causes of this bedwetting?

Scientists have pinpointed a protein that helps explain why the elderly frequently have to get up in the night to urinate, a problem that can badly interfere with sleep. DEFICIENT levels of protein called connexin43 trick the bladder into believing that it is full, which sends a "must urinate" warning to the brain and there by necessites the body to release the liquid sooner than they think they are ready to go.

In rare instances, is could be a sign of emotional problems or an abnormality of the bladder or the kidneys.

Some reports says, this bed wetting habit could be more of genetic link. "There is a very clear component of family history with bedwetters," said Dr. Charles Kwon, a pediatric nephrologist. "So, if one or both of the parents wet the bed into preadolescence or adolescence, the risk for this happening to their child is quite high."

now, by knowing these reasons, what could be the immediate cure?

One of the most effective ways to train your child to "get up and go" is to use a moisture alarm. It goes off every time a bed liner or undergarment gets wet.

Instead talking to the kid about this issue may alleviate the mental stress and social let down it feels inside that may reduce its emotional problems, which might even cure this issue.

In my personal opinion, this stupid cure by the Shanthi Niketan's teacher is DEFINITE NO.NO..NOOOOOO!!!  Recent research poll results are published above. What do you think about it?
