Not yet another article on Bodhi dharma aka Da-mo..

First of all, let me tell you that I am glad to join the bandwagon of writing about "newly discovered" tamil legend(??) Bodhi Dharma aka Da-mo who has been referred as the father of "Shaolin" monk community.

Why sudden crazy about Bhodhi dharma?  Blame it on Director Murugadoss who created such a huge hype around his new discovery : "Shaolin god was/is from South India and he is a Tamil". Boy, when I looked at the stats on how many pointed searches on "Bodhi dharma" was made since his deepavali(aka. Diwali) release tamil movie "7 am arivu" (aka "7th Sense"), I must say the numbers are mind-boggling.

When I looked further, I see though with 15 minutes of the Bodhidharma episode was showcased in his movie, there are interesting documentary movies around though NOT in Indian movie which substantiate the facts about Da-mo.

This movie clips (I am NOT sure about the piracy laws around them though) from youtube, makes me wonder that Chinese acknowledge and appreciate the fact about the Bodhi dharma roots from India and infact appreciate the gift to them from him and Indian community in-turn. "Blue eyed Barbarian" as some of the anti da-mo critics loved to refer,  is being referred as 3rd son of King of Koshi (chinese version of "Kanchipuram" which is a city in Tamilnadu, India in its current version).

Proceed ahead to see some of the boringly slow but with lot of interesting dramatic version of Bodhidharma's life history from China, if you loved him seeing on the screen recently.

Google+?? Google Management does NOT believe so!!

This morning, I came across an interesting article on Google Plus. All along, I have come across the regular and usual comments about the newly introduced products from the owners and the definitions about how their new innovations could "CHANGE" the world.

Google+ is no different too. Google claims that the Google+ is the fast forward looking approach and the Google itself is getting "TRANSMOGRIFIED" into Google+ soon. And on the same line, infact Google projected google+'s advancement and promoting the same to the incentives to the top Google leadership. However, it was little surprising to NOTE that this message DID NOT get conveyed properly as the the following article talks about how minimal the TOP management of Google uses its own product, GOOGLE+.

No wonder the article had the title "If Google's Management doesn’t use Google+, then why should you?"

Proceed ahead on finding this interesting visual explanation about how much the TOTAL usage found by its own management folk of Google+.

"Stay Hungry and Stay Foolish"

There are two people who have become famous because of  Apple.  One is "Eve" who bit an Apple to start all our proceedings and other one is Late Mr.Steve Jobs, who owned a company which had the symbol of that bitten apple, probably to pin point "eve"'s mistake i.e., us.

Having heard the late news about his untimely demise from Mr.Steve Jobs to "Late" Mr.Steve Jobs, I kind of get bombarded with the epilogue forwards of "who is he" and "what is he". I am sure that you would have gotten by now, if you are having one IT guy in your family to get those forwards to you.

Whats with the title of this post : "Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish" to do with Steve Jobs? if this is your question, proceed further to see this very inspiring video of him.

Some of really interesting point:
1) He was broke till the age of 29 and walked 7 miles to have one good meal at Hare Krishna Association in US.
2)  I really loved the way he explained his death vision and I am sure you would be as well
3) Surprised to hear that he was "TERMINATED" from his own company once.
much more to follow, so Proceed further..

But this morning I stumpled upon (I mean literally!!) when I heard about the new name : "POWER STAR" and another shocker came with this poster saying his movie is celebrating Silver Jubiliee.. 200th Day!!

For quite sometime I was NOT aware of such a good movie which ran for 200+ days in the recent past and I initially thought they might have rechristened Rajnikanth as POWER STAR now with his new sci-fi offering "Endhiran - The Robot" reaching 200th day!! But shocker came seeing the poster..Please go ahead with the utmost care of yourself not getting heart attacks or any kind of vomiting sensation..The author of this blog posting is NOT responsible for any such inconvenience as you are going to enter at your own risk ... :)

Non-biodegradable plastic bottles cannot be reused? - Think again!!

After you completed your last sip of your favorite soft drink in the "banana shaped" plastic bottle, you will be "freely" advised by your friends, family and all other well wishers to throw up in the dust bin.  Have you ever asked them the reason why?  When I did, I got the answer as it is a "non-biodegradable" plastic waste and cannot/should NOT be re-used.

Sounds familiar? Even when you try to preserve it like a "frozen" chapathi/roti in foreign land, you will surely bring wrath of the "eco-green" conscious well wishers and advised NOT to do such "childish acts".

Well, some one from MIT heard you probably and found a way to convert those "precious bottles" of yours into reusable "Solar" Bulbs.  I heard you saying "what??!!". If you had the same reaction of asking "what" with two or more question marks and similar counts of exclamation marks on your face, proceed ahead to read more about this interesting videos and innovation.

A.R.Rahman's Magic

I got an interesting forward this morning and I could NOT quite get hold of what is happening with that youtube video, may be I was still NOT awake from my Sunday morning sleep. But once I realized what is happening, I was quite astonished with the way the video went on.

Yes, the title of today's blog is quite relevant to what I am referring here. I guess I feel very proud to share this you tube with the original song of A.R.Rahman and the version I saw this morning. When I first heard the original song, it did NOT make such an impact when I heard it sung by an American choir professionals. American Chorus singing?? Go ahead and see this video..

Heard of Critical Thinking - Here are some samples for you..

You would have definitely heard about Lateral thinking. But how about critical thinking?

According to wiki pages, the definition goes as "reasonable reflective thinking focused on deciding what to believe or do". It is basically a "thinking about thinking" especially questioning related to the critical social theories. :)

I got this following forward which I found interesting this morning which exactly provided the samples I needed to understand critical thinking. Here you go:

Want to build effective presentation - Think Concept Mapping...

This morning, I got one of the interesting video forward on how you can make effective Business Presentation, or more of articulating your concepts into the business ideas. It was apparently called Concept Mapping Technique.

I know of the Mind Mapping technique which I found to be effective in most of the brainstorming sessions. However, the Concept Mapping looked definitely different in more than one way.

Here is the sample image I got for the Concept Map from the Google images and it apparently can be applied even for our day to day activities, how? proceed further to see more..

Cement Connection with Madame Tussauds

Hello All,

Before I start, please check out the below picture. What do you see unique on them? Guesses please..

No..no. Nothing related to the rumor that Tamilnadu Government has changed the dates of Pongal to April-14th!!

Well if you are like me, NOT sure about the unique feature, here is the fact about the picture: I am sure you would have heard about the Wax museum, pretty commonly heard term if you have some globetrotter friends. However have you heard about Cement Museum and that too in India? Believe me All statues are made out of CEMENT which is difficult than that of making in wax. It is tougher than Wax yet the following pictures you would see are more natural than the Wax counterparts are.
There are much more samples if you would like to proceed ahead.

Reverse Branding : Mr.Mani Iyer invites you all for Suvishesha Koottam

Recently I have come across this forward which basically captured two different posters found in the walls of Tamilnadu recently. The posters contents looked pretty much the usual except the anchors of them and the title of the posters. "Mani Iyer welcomes you to the Special Christian Prayer meeting(Suvishesham in Tamil)" and the next one is "Suseela Maamee invites you to Gods' Army Full Gospel Church".

This coincides with my recent interest on the topic "Reverse Branding".  What is reverse branding? no kidding.. it is just reverse of "Branding".. :) In layman terms, so that I myself can understand better, Branding means the process of estabilishing a product and then associate it with a category, which most of the advertisements try to establish. Reverse branding is the reverse in a way that to create a category and then associate it with the plethora of products in that line. Very similar to word of mouth advertising!! Coming back to the original poster contents, go ahead and see how the reverse branding is achieved effectively

A problem shared is a problem halved - Really? No. Scientifically!!

This morning we have got a call from one of our close relative and this person started pouring all the challenges and complaints life presented to her. Atlast when we were about to finish the call with her, I heard her saying "I feel relieved as I have shared my problems with you". Incidentally it struck me with the recent article I read on the same line.

In reality I am not convinced that a problem shared is a problem halved. If anything it has become magnified as we started bearing the load on how we could help her solving the problem.  That is the problem you can have, in case you are the one amongst the believer of "Problem shared is problem halved" concept!!

As soon as you have problems that OTHERS fear then you risk being swept along by their fears and anxieties which are not necessarily an accurate reflection of your own. Pre-conceived notions of why the problem occurred in the first place often leads to you being bombarded with, albeit well-intentioned, but nevertheless inappropriate advice.

Not only that, a recent survey states that 96% of people believe in this concept but scientific approach stated it had ZERO or NO impact to the original problem that was shared and it was sheer waste of time!! Shocked? read further

Information overflow - E-Gokulashtami @ Texas

Before I start, I believe you would have by now completed the Gokula Ashtami if you are in the southern part of the India or still chewing/mowing the seedais if you are in the western part of the world. Anyways, today's blog entry is also related to it.

I was at awe this evening with the incident I am going to describe about. Back in India, I still fondly recollect the way we celebrate Gokulashtami, where my father opens up one of his age old yellowish torn pages of the sloka book (a precious collection indeed) and have us seated in a row to spell out the slokas related to Lord Krishna.

Well, being in a foreign land, I had no choice except depending upon the information available on the internet for the slokas, where exactly the problem started

Easy way to avoid Procrastination (do it later) attitude

Hello,

Glad to be back again though not the sooner as promised in my previous blog posting. It is purely because of the writer's block. For the uninitiated, information about writer's block can be found here.

Coming back to the today's topic, it is just coincided with two readings on the same day and put to pratice before I preach here.  Let us see if you answer these questions below, honestly without copying others :):
Are you like me in postponing the things that could have done NOW but still NOT "found energy" to get it done NOW?
is "do it now" a word that you wanted to remove from the dictionary?
Are you consistently being inconsistent in achieving the set goals?
Are you consistently missing your bill payments or bill defaulter's list?
Are you  constantly found yourself NOT prepared to a planned situations/meetings?

If you answered "NO" to all or most of the above questions, please do NOT bother to read further. You must be a boringly master planner and  calculative, cautious person. This article is NOT for you. Please a favor by writing/recording the exact set of methods in this blog through which you are keeping up your record straight.

On the other hand,  if you find the above situations in questions to be more familiar (like me!!), go ahead in reading the method by which you could completely avoid procrastination.. Interested still? move ahead!!

Mobile blogging finally

Its been really a long time since I have logged. Surprisingly, each time its the same determination that drives the blogging but eventually running out of the stream the very neck day.

Root cause analysis sans fish bone ddiagrams proved to be the lack of handy medium to register my thoughts immediately it flashes. I have been on the lookout for a mobile logging medium and even tried offline repress method but to be the worst mechanisms to achieve my goal of the mobile logging.

Great to have a tablet and the android market eventually fetched me the correct method to my ideal way of logging. Here is the first in that line. I shall try continue to pour my thoughts from this medium alert daily.

Not sure if I have enough luck with though!! Look out for more updates!!

As the subject of this topic would have attracted you more than my earlier topics as it talked about two important happening of the last week. This attraction is what lead to the theme of today’s blogging: Sensational Journalism or Yellow Journalism as per Wikipedia.

How corporate America tweaks the L1 Visa program?

I am browsing through the L1 Visa program blog sites just to keep me ready for what I am currently undergoing.  By definition, it says in plain english (for dummies like me!) as "Intra-company transfer visa". By definition, this is ideal for the candidates like me, who is working in US MNC in India, getting transferred to US head-quarters.

However, it is interesting to see how the American corporates makes a better loopholes in the name of "Job creation". Go on to read the hosting country folks think about it. Please don't proceed if you love desi way of working...

Women arrest law - important piece of information..

Today I have received an interesting forward which is kind of informational as well. It started with an incident said to have happened in Pune and the corresponding law that should have been followed or protected. crux of the message states : "The law [which most of us are not aware of] clearly states that between 6 pm and 6 am, a woman has the right to REFUSE to go to the Police Station, even if an arrest warrant has been issued against her"

Here are the details and on digging up, I found NO IPC section states this law but it is a guidelines driven by National Human Rights Commission@the NHRC guidelines. Read on:
